I’ve been getting more and more into Twitter of late. It also allows you to host your images on and share them with your friends. Start with an image and draw on it, at words, arrows etc – or use it for screen capturing or even snapping a quick shot of your self with iSight. It allows you to edit and even create images that can be used for illustrative or attention grabbing purposes on your blog. Still in an invite only beta (although I only had to wait one day to get the invite) Skitch is a tool that I see having the potential to replace ImageWell. Sure you can do this in Photoshop – but ImageWell is much lighter weight, quick to use and is easy to use. It’s fantastic taking an image, doing quick crops, adding words, putting shadows around images, taking them and making them have curved corners etc. I use it to create most of the images that you see here on ProBlogger. My blogging changed the day I installed ImageWell. It has a very similar feature list to ecto and I’d probably use it if I wasn’t already hooked on the workflow that I’ve established. MarsEdit – is another Mac based desktop blogging tool that you might want to consider. ecto is currently at version 2.4.2 with a beta test of ecto 3 currently in progress (I’ve only just downloaded it but it looks great). It works with most blog platforms and allows you to blog offline, drag and drop images into posts plus lots more. It is a desktop blogging tool that allows you to get posts up on multiple blogs without having to log in to the back end of your blog. Of course some of these 14 applications (not listed in any particular order) are not exclusive to Mac users – but hopefully it’ll give a little insight into the type of tools that I’m using.Įcto is one of those tools that just clicked for me when I started using it. I thought that I’d share it here on the blog also as I know many of you are Mac users. Lately I’ve been saving my recommendations and have compiled them into a single email. A number of blogging friends have recently made the switch from using PCs to using Macs as their primary blogging machines.Įach time that one of them makes the move I tend to get an email or call a day or two later asking for advice on different applications to help with their blogging.

Because you know that guy is going to want to get into an online war. You’d rather serve nice people who appreciate the products and services you work hard to provide. Tell the customer you’re both better if he goes somewhere else. You depend on your business for your livelihood. To me, that’s even worse than apologizing. The public needs to see that you’re not going to accept a bad review like it’s a fact. If you have done something wrong, admit it and fix what you can. Don’t take responsibility for inaccurate, unwarranted comments. We also know that for every one customer who takes the time to leave a Yelp review – positive or negative – there are tens of thousands who have better things to do with their lives than praising (or disparaging) a small business owner trying to earn a living. We know that some people leave bad reviews just to extort business owners, and some states like Arizona are actually taking legislative action to put a stop to that practice. We know that even Yelp – like Google and Amazon reviews – can be rigged and that some reviews are dubious at best. We also know that there are plenty of losers with their own personal issues that have no better way to spend their time than to anonymously criticize a food establishment because the soda they received didn’t have enough ice. And if you manage to accumulate thousands – or even hundreds – of Yelp reviews and 98% of them are positive then you’re fine. A snotty reviewer like Anton Ego is now only one puny voice among thousands. My advice: stand up for yourself and fight.įight because the public already knows the truth. But is this really good advice? No, it’s not. Acknowledge the complaint and show the public that you’re aware of the problem and will address it. The industry adviser’s advice is the general consensus among most experts. “The other readers will see that you are responsive and caring for your customers,” he writes. One of them, for example, a restaurant industry adviser, says that you should say “thank you”, swallow your ego and your desire to avoid conflict. Most experts tell small businesses to be kind to these idiots. Lots and lots of idiots that are on Yelp. What kind of person is leaving a bad review for a struggling business at perhaps one of the worst economic catastrophes in recent memory? And who complains when a business owner is struggling to make their establishment safe for their workers and customers? Idiots, that’s who. Good for all of them.ĭuring the pandemic, Yelp saw a 161% spike in negative restaurant reviews from users and the platform removed over 15,000 bad user reviews related to Covid restrictions. I’m happy for the construction business in Canada that won a $90,000 defamation lawsuit against a guy who posted negative reviews about his company. And the veterinarian, the owner of a gun range and appliance repair service who bested the worst of their bad reviews. I’m cheering for the owner of a Colorado sushi restaurant who routinely claps back at unhappy customers. I’m rooting for the owner of the daycare center in Fresno California who filed defamation lawsuits against customers who left bad reviews. And I’m always rooting for the business owner. Yelp has become so powerful that fights between business owners and their unhappy patrons become legendary – and oftentimes go viral. That is great power.īut with great power comes great responsibility. Some 45% of people will check a Yelp review before visiting a business. The site reportedly has logged 184m reviews worldwide and 178m unique visitor each month. Yelp has become the place where people get their food reviews. Once you are in the air, you won't notice this.Īll planes are designed to be in the air. Like John said, you need to use your rudders to overcome this. It will pull in the opposite direction (you will be pulled left down the runway in a Cessna and to the right in WWII Russian palnes). If there is a prop on the nose spinning (hopefully), whatever it is connected to will have to conserve momentum. This is because it takes more force to overcome static friction than kinetic.Ģ) Single prop planes pull to one side during takeoff-always. Once it is moving, you'll need to cut the throttle. These two things may be normal based on physics:ġ) It's gooing to take more force to get your plane to start moving than to keep it moving. Originally posted by CaptainWolf2002:I'm not exactly sure I understand your question. If there is any amount of crosswind, despite having my rudder neutral during landing, my propeller aircraft on touching down the nosewheel always tool off abruptly into the wind. Ground handling has always been an issue for me in XP11. Perhaps someone who has a similar joystick and has solved the issue can chime in. I don't really have any other suggestions at this point. Or you could always look into purchasing a joystick that has a Z axis (twist), or perhaps get yourself some rudder pedals. There is the ability to set a keyboard key to toggle nosewheel steering. Then I feathered the left engine and was able to taxi with only the right engine running without any issues.īut you do not have a Z axis on your joystick so your only option would be to bind rudder to roll (Z axis to Y axis). I also just tried the King Air by starting with engines running. I have noticed in XP11 with propeller aircraft moreso, that on takeoff when pushing the throttles forward all of my propeller aircraft tend to turn toward the direction the wind is coming from (which I don't think is correct but it is what it is). When I fly the C172, on the ground, pushing the throttle full forward causes a slight turn to the left which is easily compensated for with rudder (I use an X-52 controller with rudder pedals). I do not seem to be having the issues you are experiencing. Or, has anyone figured out a workaround for this bug? The planes seem to fly reasonably well in the air, but the ground handling leaves much to be desired and my interests lie with small/light bush planes and STOL fun. In the joystick configuration page, it only gives me the option to bind the rudder axis to "yaw" not just "rudder" so the nose wheel steering turns at the same time. I was wondering if there was a way to change the sensitivity of the nose wheel steering OR unbind it from my joystick altogether (Saitek AV8R-03). It seems like I could counteract this bug if I could make the nose wheel less sensitive since x-plane allows full steering angle instantly if I give substantial rudder input, and since it's just a twisty stick it's not got a lot of travel before it's maxxed out. Start up right engine, and no matter what I do I can't taxi in it, it'll only spin in circles, even with the rudder and nose wheel turned completely to the left. Try turning left instead and it'll turn very easily/quickly.Īnother example: Beechcraft king air. Start it up, push controls full right to turn onto a taxiway, and even with the brakes completely off, it can hardly move at full throttle. Controls are centered, and I'm reasonably certain the issue isn't my joystick since the game displays outputs and show mine as centered.įor an example: C172 float plane that comes with the game. The vote for the tax break ended up being unanimous but Commissioner Cindy Carpenter balked at the motion saying it took her by surprise, just like the previous rollback did, “I recall I said I’m not enjoying this $18 million surprise.” The first was a $18.5 million rollback in 2022 that saved roughly $76 per $100,000 in home value. This is the second time the commissioners reduced property taxes for all property owners. “At this time I think based on the budget which was outlined the increase to us is better spent by the people that pay the taxes,” Rogers said.Ĭounty Administrator Judi Boyko gave the commissioners a brief overview of the 2024 budget they will be asked to approve next week, saying they have $135.6 million in unencumbered carryover to begin the year, $122.1 million - the windfall wasn’t included in the budget - in anticipated general fund revenues and expenditures totaling $121.9 million. Rogers said “we’ve pretty much exhausted” any legislative options to reduce the blow to taxpayers by the end of the year. The pandemic - among other issues - shoved home prices to bloated levels and the state was relying only on 2022 sales.īutler County officials have led the charge in the statehouse to pass legislation to lessen the blow on taxpayers, but few are hopeful a remedy can be passed in time. “I think it’s only the fair thing to do, it’s not a huge amount of money but it does help.”īutler County Auditor Nancy Nix brought awareness in March that average property values could skyrocket by 24% and by May that number had exploded to 42%, the final median increase now stands at 37% for the county. “We can clearly forgo the additional increase that we would have gotten on this windfall appraisal for calendar year ‘24,” Dixon said. He said they tried, and apparently failed, to get a legislative fix to mitigate property value hikes that will soar by 40% in some areas, so the least they can do is forgo the unexpected windfall. The commissioners have been mulling the move for several weeks and Commissioner Don Dixon prompted the vote Monday.
